She did it. You knew she'd manage it eventually, and she finally did. Lassoed that comet, got out of here. Could be anywhere now. And here you are, the casualty of her dreams.
That's overdramatic. You're alright. You've still got the others, she left you the hat. You'll be fine.
Still, there's an… ache. You never wanted to take her place. You wanted to stay in yours, by her side. She believes you have what it takes, and you'll always trust her, but… still, you didn't want this. You couldn't have gone with her, of course, and you wouldn't have wanted to if you could. You have no desire to leave, you like your family here. You look forward to taking care of them. You just wish you could do so alongside her.
You sigh, staring up at the quickly-receding tail of the comet she hitched a ride on. You know it's the closest you'll get to ever seeing her again. Once it's gone completely, you put on the hat, allowing a single, self-indulgent tear to fall from your eye, and head inside.
